Chief Information Security Officer (f/m/d) – Munich, Germany. Full-time, hybrid. Compensation: €120K – €135K plus equity (€120K – €180K).

Orbem uses AI to industrialize MRI, delivering non-invasive insight into biological matter to reduce waste, improve quality, and promote sustainability. Based in Munich with an office in Houston, Orbem is scaling its technology and data capabilities.

Your Role

You will own Orbem’s information security function end-to-end at a pivotal moment, including upcoming ISO 27001 re-audit, risk management, and external provider orchestration. This is a hands-on, senior security practitioner role with strategic and operational responsibilities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Strategy & Program Ownership (≈ 40%): lead ISO 27001 re-audit, set information security strategy, maintain risk register, represent the company to auditors and regulators.
• Hands-On Execution (≈ 40%): implement and operationalize security controls, governance, incident response, policy development.
• External Stack & Leadership (≈ 20%): manage external security providers, collaborate with Security Engineering, build a Security Ambassadors network, leverage AI for compliance and evidence collection.

Experience & Skills

• Scale-up security leadership at a company with 150–600 FTE; ISO 27001 lived experience; hands-on operator capable of risk management, policy writing, and incident response.
• Comfort working without a large team; strong business communication to non-security executives; resilient and decisive under time pressure.
• Familiarity with GDPR, NIS2, EU AI Act; experience with external security and compliance providers; AI-first working mindset.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience navigating an ISO 27001 re-audit; familiarity with European regulatory landscape and US frameworks (SOC 2); deep-tech or industrial product context.
• Experience evaluating external security vendors; ability to integrate AI into security workflows.
