Staff Machine Learning Engineer (f/m/d)

Your Role

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will be at the forefront of building the intelligent systems that power Orbem’s next-generation technology. You’ll design and deliver scalable, production-ready ML solutions that move seamlessly from prototype to real-world deployment. You’ll collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to shape the core architecture that brings breakthrough ideas to life. You’ll drive engineering excellence, define best practices, and champion high-quality ML across the lifecycle.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Lead design and implementation of ML systems.
  • Build and improve code for training ML models with modularity, scalability, and robustness.
  • Collaborate with data scientists on training and fine-tuning models.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot production ML code and models for latency and memory usage.
  • Deploy and monitor ML models in production ensuring stability.
  • Grow production ML tooling knowledge within the team.
  • Guide the team in adopting best ML engineering practices.

Experience and Skills

Must have:

  • Deep knowledge of PyTorch and distributed training.
  • Experience in ML system design and optimizing model architectures for inference and training.
  • Proven ability to build and automate complex data pipelines for ML.
  • Familiarity with ML production tools and model deployment.
  • Strong Python skills and expertise in best practices and design patterns.
  • Experience with version control, reproducible environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud providers to scale and automate ML workflows.


Nice to have:

  • CUDA and GPU acceleration experience.
  • Experience with 3D data and computational challenges.
  • Experience in ML for healthcare, privacy, and security considerations (e.g., federated learning).
