Overview

CorPower Ocean is a global leader in wave energy, developing advanced composite structures for Wave Energy Converters (WECs). The role focuses on design, analysis, manufacturing, testing and certification of large, novel composite structures, and setting direction for composite architectures, materials, processes, and verification methods.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end design and development of large, complex, highly loaded composite structures from requirements to production release
  • Conduct composite structural analysis, sizing for stability, strength and fatigue using hand calculations and FEA; align analysis with test plans and validated results
  • Select materials, layups and processes (e.g., filament winding & VARI) to meet performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost targets
  • Produce and review engineering calculations, design & test reports, certification documentation and presentations
  • Drive design-for-manufacture/assembly/service; provide feedback loops from assembly/testing/operations into design
  • Investigate and introduce new materials, architectures, processes and tools to improve performance, reliability, sustainability and cost
  • Ensure compliance with composite design standards and certification pathways (e.g., DNV, IEC); support first-of-a-kind product certification
  • Support supply chain activities: component definition, supplier selection, manufacturing readiness, factory acceptance testing of modules
  • Mentor engineers and technicians; establish methods, tools and standards for Operations & Maintenance teams
  • Ensure safety-first culture; uphold industry, safety and environmental standards in design and operations; champion design-for-safety
  • Represent the company with customers, certification bodies and stakeholders on composite technologies

Skills & Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc/PhD in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or related, 5+ years in composite design and analysis
  • Proven ability to design high-performing composite products of similar nature
  • Deep proficiency in linear and non-linear analysis of composite structures using FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, Altair Optistruct, Marc)
  • Strong CAD/PLM literacy (e.g., Creo, Windchill) and data/documentation practices
  • Practical experience with composite manufacturing processes (e.g., filament winding & VARI) and associated quality controls
  • Experience with certification of first-of-a-kind products with bodies such as DNV; familiarity with IEC/industry standards
  • Proven track record across specification, design, assembly, testing and deployment programs
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent in English
