MBRYONICS is at the forefront of free space optical communications. Our product portfolio covers photonic integrated circuits to advanced optical systems and embedded software solutions for satellite communications systems. We are expanding and seeking a suitably motivated Senior Digital Design Engineer to join our group. You will work on innovative Optical and Photonic products for space telecommunications applications, spanning IPs/ASICs/SoCs/FPGAs. Significant experience in Digital Design for high-speed communications is required; familiarity with FPGAs, ICs, SoCs, FEC (LDPC/RS), and RadHard/harsh environments for Aerospace or space applications is beneficial.

Responsibilities include:

• Take direct responsibility for the full delivery of digital designs across all design phases: research, definition, design, simulation, and verification at top-level and module-level.
• Define, refine, and document system-level and module-level architectures considering performance, power, area, and testability.
• Author requirements documentation, functional specifications, interface definitions, and verification plans.
• Develop detailed low-level design implementations and High-Level Models for exploration and verification.
• Conduct design reviews of specifications and RTL code for quality and correctness.
• Develop RTL design of block-level modules and verify designs with SystemVerilog and UVM methodologies.
• Perform simulations at block and top levels to ensure functionality and timing requirements.
• Define and execute block-level and top-level test plans; validate circuit functionality in lab environments.
• Document and review design processes and outcomes; provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Support flow and methodology improvements to enhance design efficiency and quality.

Qualifications:

• 7 to 10+ years of experience as a digital design or verification engineer with successful tape-outs and/or FPGA deployments.
• Strong proficiency in HDL languages (SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL).
• Extensive RTL design and implementation experience; experience with prototyping systems on FPGA platforms or emulators.
• Programming in C/C++ and scripting (Tcl/Perl/Python/shell); automation techniques knowledge.
• Solid understanding of the digital design process, verification tools, and hw/sw co-design principles.
• Ability to work autonomously, drive innovation, and possess excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with Matlab and Simulink for modeling and simulation.

Salary and Location: The pay range for this role is 60,000 - 80,000 EUR per year (Galway), Galway, Ireland.
