As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated Photonics Systems Engineer to join our group.

What you'll do

• Support the development of photonic package concepts, package process development, and their related design rules
• Propose innovative solutions to meet photonics networking and PIC-based product or market requirements
• Optimise the integration, form and function of photonic systems amongst their optical, mechanical, and environmental surroundings on the satellite
• Procurement selection and qualification of photonic components and suppliers
• Direct and/or conduct optical experiments needed to support design efforts
• Quality control and yield analysis to provide feedback for design optimisation
• Train design and assembly team members on design principles and practices for packaging
• Project coordination with clients and across multidisciplinary teams to ensure project requirements and delivery schedules are met
• Project management, planning and progress documentation
• Layout (convert designs into GDSII format) as required
• CAD for packaging as required
• Write proposals, bids, and reports for space agencies and national funding bodies

Who you are

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Optical Engineering, or a related field
• Basic understanding of photonics principles and optical components
• Experience with laboratory equipment and measurement techniques
• Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
