Proxima Fusion is Europe’s fastest-growing fusion company and a spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. We are hiring across multiple roles in Munich (OnSite). Role: Senior Agent Platform Engineer

Location: Munich, Germany – Full time, OnSite

Overview: Own the design, delivery, and operation of our agent platform, including durable sessions, sandboxed execution environments, long-running tasks, memory management, and tool integration. Build stable platform primitives, connect agents to internal and external systems, and ensure safe and governable autonomy with proper auditing, cost controls, and security considerations. Operate on Google Cloud with production discipline (Kubernetes, cloud services, observability).

What You Will Do

• Design, delivery, and operation of the agent platform runtime and primitives.
• Stabilize an evolving agent ecosystem into production-grade building blocks.
• Co-design integration layers to connect agents with enterprise tools and scientific computing stacks.
• Impose governance: permissions, human-in-the-loop escalation, audit logging, cost controls, and security hardening against prompt injection and tool abuse.
• Build evaluation and observability layers for non-deterministic systems with session tracing and cost/latency visibility.
• Operate on Google Cloud Platform with Kubernetes and cloud-native practices.
• Collaborate with demanding technical users and shape platform roadmap with team leads.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, strong in Python and distributed backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with production-grade agentic or LLM systems and familiarity with MCP, agent SDKs, multi-agent orchestration, sandboxed code execution.
• Experience running production workloads on Kubernetes and a major cloud (ideally GCP).
• Strong emphasis on evaluation, observability, security, and platform thinking.
• Clear communicator with users and cross-functional teams; low ego and high clarity.
• Experience with Terraform and CI/CD is a plus.
