Über die Rolle
We're looking for an experienced Lab Technician / PTA / CTA to keep our lab running and support the day-to-day synthesis and characterization of AI-predicted materials. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role with real ownership of lab operations, sample preparation, and data quality. You'll work closely with our team of scientists to turn AI predictions into physical samples and reliable characterization data.
- Run analyses and measurements independently in the lab
- Support and run experimental synthesis of inorganic crystalline materials
- Perform characterization using techniques such as XRD, electron microscopy (SEM-EDS), and transport and magnetization measurements
- Prepare samples, reagents, solutions, and compounds
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab instruments and measuring equipment
- Ensure proper documentation and data quality of results
- Manage reagents, consumables, and inventory; keep the lab clean, safe, and organized
- Uphold safety, health, and environmental protection standards when handling hazardous substances

About the role

Your tasks

Your profile Erforderlich
- Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung als Physikalisch-technische/r Assistent/in (PTA), Chemisch-technischer Assistent/in (CTA), Techniker/in, Werkstoffprüfer/in oder vergleichbar, oder ein Bachelor-Abschluss in Chemie, Materialwissenschaften, Physik oder einem verwandten Fachbereich
- 2–3+ Jahre praktische Laborerfahrung
- Fundierte Kenntnisse in der Bedienung und Wartung von Laborinstrumenten und Messgeräten
- Praktische Erfahrung mit Materialsynthese und/oder Charakterisierungsmethoden (z. B. XRD, SEM-EDS, PPMS/VSM)
- Sorgfältige, selbstständige und gut strukturierte Arbeitsweise
- Hohe experimentelle Sorgfalt und Dokumentationsdisziplin
- Sicherheitsbewusstes Handeln beim Umgang mit Gefahrstoffen
- Zuverlässige/r Teamplayer/in mit Eigenverantwortung
- Fließendes Englisch, Deutschkenntnisse von Vorteil
- Erfahrung mit einem breiten Spektrum an Synthese- und Charakterisierungsmethoden
- Vertrautheit mit Automatisierung, Scripting oder Labordatenmanagement
- Erfahrung im Bereich Festkörperphysik oder anorganische Chemie

Required
- Completed vocational training (Ausbildung) as a PTA, CTA, Lab Technician, Materials Tester, or similar, or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
- 2–3+ years of hands-on lab experience
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining lab instruments and measuring equipment
- Hands-on experience with materials synthesis and/or characterization techniques (e.g., XRD, SEM-EDS, PPMS/VSM)
- A careful, independent, and well-organized working style
- Strong experimental rigor and documentation discipline
- Safety-conscious when handling hazardous substances
- A reliable team player who takes ownership
- Fluent in English, German is a plus
- Experience with a broad range of synthesis and characterization methods
- Familiarity with automation, scripting, or lab data management
- Exposure to condensed matter physics or inorganic chemistry
